My Practice
I began my counselling career volunteering and then working for a local trauma and abuse charity. I knew then my path was going to lead me to study for, and obtain my Counselling Diploma in Professional Studies from the University of the West of England. Since then I have both volunteered and worked for Bristol Mind. Both organisations have given me a wealth of experience and the confidence to branch out into private practice, which I did in 2020.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor; this means I draw on a number of different theoretical perspectives to best suit your needs. I have completed level 1 training in Internal Family Systems and am undertaking Level 2 Internal Family Systems Training, (couples therapy, trauma and neuroscience) this year. You can obtain more information about Internal Family Systems (IFS) here
Building safety and trust is at the core of my practice. I want to foster an environment where it feels safe to bring whatever you would like to work on and we can do this in a creative way if that feels right for you during the session. My aim is to work with you collaboratively to find the best way to explore whatever it is, that has brought you to counselling.
I have experience working with the following:
Historic abuse and trauma
Depression
Anxiety
Relationship issues
Infertility
Health issues and changes to identity and sense of self.
The above list is not exhaustive, however it represents the majority of my experience to date.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and work within their ethical framework guidelines.
